Mal's skinky skitterleap adventures: lizos vs woc

Ok on to game 4, What happened in Game 2 and 3 well.................................
I played JM in the Blood and Glory scenario, which I was already losing by 600vps as I was broken, and I had only 1 standard and a general. I didn't take any photos in this game so not much to say, played against skaven with a bell list and managed to kill the gay seer so even with being down 600vp I managed to pull a small win.
Game 3 and erm, cough cough I lost to a non-magic non- shooting Wood Elf list the less said about this one the better I think. I played Junior Williamson, who in my opinion is one of the best players in NZ. He schooled me up good and proper 13-7 loss here)
Game 4 and I'm playing Senior Williamson, with an interesting Terro bomb WOC list. Check out the list from the previous post with a link. But a quick run down, Hellcannon, warshrine, Nurgle giant, 42 marauders with flails and slaanesh. 5 units of 6 marauders horseman with flails. Characters that basically caused -1 ld if you could see them.  The scenario was the diagonal deployment, and fortunately for me that is SW giant and L4 Mask of eeeeee rolled 1's so would be coming on as reserves. The stuff of mine that was not coming on was one unit of cohorts and a scar-vet, so I got off pretty lightly.
SW has got Purple Sun, Spirit Leech and Fate of bhaji's, I can't remember what the Lv 4 had. My boys had ice shard and Curse of midnight wind. The slann had enchanted blades, final transmutation, plague of rust and transmutation of lead.


Check out the picture for full deployment, I set up 2nd and knew unless a miracle happened that SW would be going first. you can see from the deployment that SW had lined up the marauders and placed them as far forward as they would go. With all his horsemen lined up to get in on the action and the one unit with characters in behind the horde. I had kept my terradons back and set up pretty deep in anticipation. So I get to try and seize the initiative and I managed to roll the cheeky little 6, getting to go first.
So on to turn 1 on the right flank i move up one unit of skirmishers and camo skinks in range of horseman on the far right, the 2 scar vets start to jog forward. The rest of the army neglects to do anything. In the magic phase, I roll double 2 and niether of us channel anything. I cast enchanted blades a unit of camo skinks and plague of rust on some horsemen. I kill some horsemen and 1 doggy, woop woop.

SW's turn 1 and he pushes the Marauder block forward, the 2 horsemen start making a run for board edge as they get scared. the Giant comes up on the far left hand side, and the Level 4 moves on to the board on the far right and joins a another marauder horseman unit. SW rolls double 1 for the magic phase and doesn't do much, Shooting and the Hellcannon shoots the skink unit with the priests in and kills quite afew of them. Nothing else really happens.

Turn 2 I manage to get one of the terradons in range to bomb the giant thats just turned up out of nowhere, 3D3 and I mange to get 9 rock and cause 4 wounds  sweet good start, I drop down near by to javelin at him hoping to drop down good. The other terradons move up nearby to drop rocks in the next turn if they are lucky. The 2 long lines of Cohorts moves forwrd to get in to range of the marauder horde block. The Razordons also get in range as as well as the Salamanders, I want to try and maximise all the fire power I can get on to it. On the far right the skinks make a line for the Hellcannon. the most scariest thing in the army. The 2 scar vets run hand in hand towards the hellcannon so that it can have a go at it later. Magic phase and again another double 2 I cast some enchanted blade on the camo skinks that can get the hellcannon.

Shooting, and the all the fire of the camo skinks and skirmishers manages to get 4 wounds of the hellcannon, sweet would of been nice to kill it out right. but eh. Next comes the shooting on the marauder block. See the picture below, and these guys where 46 strong, but after a few pew pew pew pew. 8 left.


SW turn 2 and here comes the charges, the dogs charge a unit of skinks on the far righthand side. the Hellcannon fails its rampage test and charges the unit of skinks in front of them. Not a good them as they can't stand and shoot as it will move in the compulsory movement phase. the worst thing is my list hate things that charge in the compulsory phase. On the left teh giant charges the salamander that had moved in to a bad position to make an awesome shot on the marauders. They flee and teleport onto the other side of the board, horsemen charge the terradons that bombed the giant, and the warshrine also charges. Half my army seems to be running away and i'm getting a little worried. there is not a lot of board space for them to rally. Magic phase is uneventful and the combat phase sees a miracle happen. The Skinks fighting the Hellcannon fail there fear test, and are hitting the hellcannon on something stupid, 12 attacks and I get 6 hits and 3 wounds through. oh yeah ninja skinks SW fails 2 armours saves and allocates 1 to the cannon and 1 to a crew member. One dead hellcannon, thats a great relief off my mind. The hellcannon is one of those things that can rampage through my entire army.


Turn 3 Sees the unit of Terradons that ran away from the horsemen rally, the other 2 units get to bomb the giant and land next to it just in case. A bad mistake as the drop rocks do the job, but the giant land on one unit of terradons killing 2 causing a panic test which the fearless boys pass. The salamanders rally, and in the centre the cohorts stay put to shoot the last 8 marauders this is going to leave a massive hole right in the middle. So the 2 scar-vets push up again and stand in front of the horseman unit with the characters stuck in it the one that was behind the maurader block. Cock-blocking time. The skinks on the far right go chasing the Lv4 horseman bunker zulu style, nothing like running away from scary lil brown dudes with sharp sticks.

Magic and I get decent phase double 4 sweet. No that I have some dice, I think its time for my favourite spell........................Gold. The maurader horsemn with the 2 charcater unit looks tasty and I pick up my dice make a lil monkey sound in my head and boom double smiley face. Who needs luck eh? SW has his death wizard and BSB in this unit. I point at the Death wizard nothing, the BSB and you guessed it the smiley face look back at me. oh yeah gamey cnut. SW doesn't look too impressed, I manage to kill a couple of plebs. my miscast is a 9 and with the puppet its changed to a 10 niot great lose D3 levels, I use my soulstone and roll an double 5 great lose D3 levels. I lose 2 level and lose FT and lead spell. not to bad could of been worse. No combat who would of guessed.

SW turn 3 and he get to charging stuff, the horseman charges the scar-vet. the lv4  and horseman charge some stupid camo skinks in a wood, they can't have a reaction as they are too stupid. The scar-vets  have a spaz off with the death wizard not doing much for a few combats. the Lv4 kicks the crap out of the camo skink but they held as they are stubborn in a wood.

Turn 4
In my turn I move some chaff so that they can block the lv 4 unit when they eventful finish of the camo skinks, the spaz off combat continues. more action happens in SW turn 4. Magic phase and SW chucks Purple sun out of the death wizard who's in combat with a scar-vet. now the scary thing is that a good roll, for the purple sun, will get not only the scar- vet, it will get a razordon, 7 skinks and the Slann oh no, the Slann's  not the sharpest tool in the box. SW rolls his dice and rolls high enough to get it off, I fumble my dice and roll pants. The Slann starts to sweat a little. SW rolls his artillery dice and rolls a 8 uh oh, 24" thats going to get everyone. A little bit of poo starts to push its way out. I grab some dice, not feeling very confident and expecting everyone to die, I point at the Scar-vet, dodges, the Razordon dodges, then 5 out 7 skinks dodge and now to the game breaker and yeah baby the Slann dodges matrix style everyone dodges the purple sun, I don't know what the odds are, but SW was mightily disappointed :). the Scar-vet finally manages to find the pointy end of his sword and kill the death wizard and chase down the horseman who break.

Turn 5&6 are a non-events nothing in range so I start to put some distance from the rest of SW stuff run to the hills boys. I don't think i even cast any spell so scared of falling in a hole SW in turn has nothing in range to do anything.

Turns out to be a 16-4 win to me in the end woop woop.

alright, so first off it turns out i made it into the top 4 for the swoard of khaine campaign. yay ben. problem is now ill only be facing greg's tk, who's well in the lead, helves, which im of two minds about, and daemons, which, well you know how i feel about letter lists. 2400 pts too.
thing is, i only just pipped another dude for the spot, im on 104 pts so far, whereas greg is on 140, helves on 129, and doc on 127. although i think it now refreshes, given that we are all in seperate pools. in anycase, gonna be some hard fought games coming up.

also, mr patel has sent me through some photos of skitterleap armies. hope the owners dont mind me posting em - some nice looking stuff there, are those your delves sammy?






hopefully have a couple more malreps coming up soon. i didnt manage to get any games in this week, but im heading out to a new nerdhole - hampton gaming club - this weekend, might get a game there.

Mal's skinky skitterleap adventures - lizos vs vc

Alright Guys its Mal, everyones token lil ethnic friend.

So apologies, I was meant to do an amazing bat rep for my boy Ben, but alas I have shite memory and I forgot to take photo's half the time. If anything I have written below didn't actually happen in the game - I don't care. I'm use my dramatic license. Or I'm just plain lying. I took photos in 2 games but did take some photos for best presented. So enjoy.

So, its Skitterleap tomorrow (Imagine me writing this Friday) in Wellington, the flights were booked months ago and I'm taking my filth ETC lizardmen list. I Like Wellington tournaments, this one is being run by Pete D and he runs a tight ship. I know from previous tournament the tables will be well set out, trophies will be ready, rounds will be well spaced out. Generally just a well organised machine.
 
So what's in my list, well its one of the most annoying lil lizzy cnut list that I've ever played. The sort of list that gives all Lizardmen players a bad name. The kind to give people nightmares, not as bad as the list I took to clash of titans in the UK. I took 16 terradons in that one, oh yeah.

So..................here's a quick run down.





Slann on metal, -1 to hit in CC, 2+ ward from ranged attacks, +D6 to cast, BSB and Banner of discipline cause all Slann are disciplined like shaolin monks right. Dispel scroll and Soul stone. He's a monk right, they can go all matrix on your ass and make sure that gaping hole in the floor never appears. Don't forget everyone likes a lil bling: so a cheeky Final transmutationn turning everyone to gold like that James Bond film. Or having really hot spoons (Searing doom) being thrown at you, thats gonna hurt. Gangsta.

Scar vet, re-rollable armour save, magical and poison gw, his mate Scar-vet with charmed shield and 4+ ward, cause have you ever meet a scar-vet who couldn't take cannonball to the face. well the first one anyway. And scar-vets get lonely as well so they have to come in pairs like gerbils or hamsters.

Lvl 1 priest with a cube and his mate with curse charm of Tepok, cause its always funny watching your opponents wizard falling in a hole.

Then the rest of my chaff aka mean ass killing ninja machines.

3 x 21 Skinks Cohort with Javelins
3 x 12 Skinks Skirmishers with Javelins
3 x 6 Camo Skinks
3 x 3 Terradons
2 Salamander
2 x 1 Razordons

So what the the plan, well....................say pew pew pew pew pew alot shout "take it off" alot and generally be a gamey cnut. This army is not meant to get in to combat, its death by a thousand cuts, and whittle down the enemy till a cohort can kick the crap out of it. So all those horde list are no problem, tip is to maximise all fire power, drops rock, Final trans or Searing Spoons push the skinks right in there face right, shoot them, then shoot em again when they charge you. Win win. Also choose to roll 6's or :) smiley faces and poison that shit that always helps.

Run the Scar-vet as road blocks they should hold most things................. hopefully.

Ok so that the plan, I get to Wellywood, and crash at my mates Locky's place, he a stand in player for the weekend if anyone's drops out at the last minutes or we need a sub. So over a few beers, we go through some of the lists and trying to figure out how the heck you can kill Billy and his 90 mini-me's. Double Terrogit list, Terror bomb WOC list. Kitchen sink lizard list.

Maximum big ups to my a boy J check out his blog http://thebrushofdoom.blogspot.co.nz/ for the lift to and from the event. I felt that the the roles of driving Miss Daisy had been reversed.

So game 1 Dawn Attack - Random deployment and I'm playing Glen, with his VC double Terroghesit list with 8 of those ghouls on roids. I've never played Glen before, seen him around and I have to say that he is a genuinely really nice chap. So for the full list check of the above link. The 2 photos I took show the set up, for Glen top to bottom goes like this, wolves, 8 roid-ghouls, ghoul king and mates, terrogit, terrogit zombies with necro, zombies with necro, bats zombies.



my deployment top to bottom: camo skinks, chaf, slann, chaf, Teradons, chaf. I had set the Skink cohorts in lines of 2 so they can all shoot. for the priest I had rolled comet and ice shard and the Slann had, enchanted blades, Techni-coloured dream cloak -Glittering-robe, Transmutation of lead and you guessed it Gold, Always believe in your soul, You've got the power to know, You're indestructible, Always believe, because you are Gold








I lost the dice roll to set-up first, so Glen deployed first and then my boys went down. I then had to roll to seize the initiative, I'd set up to go 2nd amd I hadn't vanguard cause I was quite frankly terrified of the terrogits. lucky or unlucky I rolled that cheeky smiley face and could go first. Nothing really happened this turn other then some general shuffling and the camo skinks running behind the massive sphinx. Glenn's first turn was equally uneventful and saw the terrogits shuffle away from the direction the camo skinks were going. He pushed forward the roid-ghouls and ghoul king bus in between the 2 sphinx and zombies also pushed forward.

On to Turn 2, now I've played 8th ed as long as the next man and I have to say that I have never had my hobby wrecked, but alas I have hobby wrecked others, and Glen to his credit took it on the chin. Turn 2 saw some more shuffling of the camo skinks round the sphinx to shoot the roid-ghouls. The scar vet ran forward and started to get in the way of the roid-ghouls as plan B so they couldn't charge some skinks get a cheeky over run into the Slann. All the skinks ran forward to Javelin the shit out of the ghoul block making a B line for the Slann.
Seeing the danger the terradons started to run towards the Slann so they could be feed to Undead horde as Plan C. Whats Plan A well................. the magic phase happens and its average. I start to predict the future and tell Glenn exactly whats going to happen, now apparently any ol' monkey can play 8th ed, and god bless Hanuman the Hindu god of monkeys I've 6 diced monkey'd with the best of them. So I grab my six dice, point to the big 35 ghoul unit with Ghoul king, Wight king 2 Cairn Wraith. Say Final Transmutation...........Double Smiley Face. I point to the Ghoul King, kiss my dice...............roll it and Smiley face it up good and proper "Take it OFF".
(Now I had to apologies to Glenn as coming from the ETC I thought he had look out sir from this but he didn't and I knew this was a hobby killer. But Glen being the top guy that he was took it on the chin, and I have to say he got my best sports for the tournament. I have to say a little bit of me felt bad, only a little bit mind.) I also manage to Gold up some of the Ghouls and one of the cairn wraiths. In the aftermath of all the undead melting, the wolves and bats died out right and 5 wounds to one terrogit but Glen had some necromancer keeping things together. The miscast was something poo, so the Slann was quite pleased with himself. In the shooting phase I managed to get the salamander and a cohort and Skirmishers and razordon to open fire on the remainder of the ghouls. Leaving unit pretty decimated.

Glen's turn 2 say saw desperate measures, the Cairn wraith in the ghoul block charges out at the razrodon, the razordon was too far away so had to shoot the ghost. The roid boys attempt a charge against so skinks but fail, The Terrogits move a full 20" towards the skinks to say boo at the them killing a couple  would cause a few panic test but if nothing happens then its a big risk as they could zulu dawn them. Glen's go full out super aggressive all out. Zombies are making a massive move forward zombie style. Magic Phase and Glenn zaps one of the scar vet and gets spirit leeched, ouch. Glen also zaps a unit of Skink skirishers with the fire ball ring causing them to panic and make a dash for the safety of the board edge. The terrogits say boo, but its a whisper. The cairn wraith proper smashes up the razordon overruns towards the Slann.

Turn 3 No charges surprise surprise, the camo skinks finally get round the back of the sphinx and behind the roid-boys to poke them in the bum. The other razordon takes one for the team(like when your mate has to get off with the fat bird so you can have the one that doesn't look like shes works in KFC), and runs infront of the cairn wraith, then all the terradons drop rocks on the roid-boys. I send another skirmisher unit in front of the wight king and handful of ghouls, Magic and I cast enchanted blades on the cohort in front of roid boys, as I know they are in trouble if I can't get them down to  a manageable level. Glen stops all the other spells I try to attempt. In the shooting phase the 2 terrogits get zulu dawned, Glen made a gamble but it didn't work out and they go down. With the drop rocks and all the shooting from the camo skinks and cohort thats standing in front of them, they lose 5 out of the 8 leaving only 3 with a cairn wraith. Glen keeping up with the aggression charges the fleeing unit of skinks with some zombies, they run off the board. They then re-direct into a cohort, I know my skinks can't win this battle so they flee as well, they in turn get charged by the other unit of zombies having to flee twice off the board. Great the left flank is falling fast. (Dead, skirmish unit, cohort and scar-vet) Glen is moping up, but I can't afford those zombies to move to fast. The Fat chick Cairn Wraith jumps on the razordon. The Wight King unit charges the skinks in front



The skink ninjas are on fire, they kill all the ghouls with a stand a shoot and stand toe to toe with the wight king. The roid boys charge the enchanted blade skinks and another couple die before the finally make to combat. Glen tries to spirit leech the other scar-vet, I have to use a scroll or cube for this, the scar vet not to happy about this and spend the rest of the game running for a corner. Glen starts to raise zombies, not just a couple but like a million those 20 strong units are nearly 30-40 strong now. The combat phase see the Fat chick Cairn Wraith abuse the razordon like Jimmy Saville and a you know whom. The Wight King proper smashes up the skink unit and they run never to return from combat, Glen decides not to pursue so that he can bail in the zombie unit nearby next turn. The enchanted bladed skinks kick the crap out of the roid boys.

Turn 4 Sees me look at the board, and I know I'm up, Glen has lost a heap of stuff and really only has 3 units of zombies, a Wight king, a cairn wraith left and Wizards. There's a cairn wraith right up near my Slann, and the only thing that can handle the Wight king is the scar-vet who's hiding in the corner scared of his mojo being stolen by the death wizard.



I start to move all my army backwards away from the left flank where the zombie horde is coming from. I manage to enchanted blades some skinks to shoot the last fat chick cairn wraith. Glen jumps the Wight King in a zombie horde for some safety.

Turn 5 Uneventful as neither of us want commit and the zombies are now 50 strong uh oh.

Turn 6 See both of us move backwards, Glen doesn't have the range with the death magic and FD is 36" with the Slann moving 8" I don't want the old boy falling in a hole in the last turn.

And that was game 1, 16-4 win, it was always going to be tough once the choppy Ghoul king had died, Glen did everything right after that and managed to mop up some points, great fun game and Glen was a top bloke.

Swoard of khaine: round 4

gidday gang, its batrep time! imagine there will be a tonne of them this week all over the blogosphere, well done to everyone at skitterleap too. hoping to get some batreps of it from mal to post.
have changed desks at work too, sitting with my back to the boss, so blogging at work will have to be done a bit more discreetly = perhaps less frequent updates, but we'll see.

anyway, game 1  vs vc. he had 2x5 wolves, 2x2 fellbats, 60 zombies with a banshee, 20 ish gg, 30ish ghouls, 8 bks, 5 blood knights, and vlord with scabskrath and some bits and pieces.
special mission here was everything within 18 of the centre obilisk was subject to frenzy, even if they were itp/undead/whatever. had a big impact on this game. not sure who went first, maybe andy.


actually, i think i went first. got an alpha strike on the left hounds with a chariot, and overran when i shouldntve. moved mrs gartroll up to block his other dogs from suiciding my mangler. dd'd a couple bks

his bats fail a frenzy, and charge my pair of chariots. he raises some zombies, which i promptly charge with a chariot, to save manglers. mrs gartroll battles doggies


chariots kill the bats, but his gg fail frenzy and have to charge mrs gartroll in the flank, and zombies fail frenzy - i know right?!?!? - and charge the trolls. gg win and overrun into both orc blocks. i think i foot a few bks too. dd blows up

it takes 3 rounds of combat for my frenzied trolls to eat 60 zombies, and one round of combat for my orc blocks to wipe out gg. one mangler goes through the ghouls, the other is popped with a raise dead. for some reason my pair of chariots charge his banshee, who screams in his turn and nails em both

next to fail frenzy are his ghouls, who charge sorcbuns and are slaughtered. at this point i start moving backwards and footing stuff, figuring i had it in the bag. another foot takes the bks down to 3


banshee charges my trolls and pins em in place, waiting for the counter charge. i set up to try and dissuade him from doing so, as the trolls reform to cop it



and they cop it. that swing takes it back to an 11-9 victory to the greenskins


i was kinding hedging on andy not being able to kill anyone with his general by the end of the game, so scabskrath would kill his general, but not to be. never mind

next up was the draw i was dreading. thirster with rerolls and 3+ as, double letters, one with -2 to casting, and other with d6 charge banner, herald with flaming sword, tz l2, 2 fiends and 2x5 hounds.
ive never beaten this particular list, and didnt today either. standard battline.


he moves up, i scare him with manglers. one gets flickered.


then its foot time. went off about 4-5 times, and took a rank off both letters


he reforms one to a bus, the other beat the troll, then cop a charge from sorcbuns. if you look closely, youll see the remaining mangler has an ideal line through the bottom letters, thirster, and fiend. was about 5 inches away. i then pick up 3 dice, and roll three 1's. fuuuuuuuuuuuuck!


sorcbuns lose by one, pair of chariots goes through the woods to try nab some letters from the other unit and kills a few before they die too


letters chase sorcbuns, with 2 and a herald left after mangler goes through them, but cant quite reach thirster. hand the trolls over to assist


oh dear. oh dear oh dear oh dear.



he sacrifices his l2 to jump on the mangler, earning me my first pts. yay. im stubborn, but not for much longer. he keeps throwing units into the trolls to hold em up


nec minute...


he gets the trolls and its a 19-1 loss. stupid daemons, stupid letter lists, stupid thirsters, grumble grumble
last game was vs tks, not gregs, although you can see him next door. this mission the tower moves 2d6 in a random distance, and casts a flicker automatically at the closest unit. had issues with the tower last time i played it. robert had 3 knights, 5 horse archers, l4 nek, l3 light, 2x10 archesr, 6 chariots with prince, kitty, sphinxter, hierotitan, 3 ushabti and a ssc.


i go first, and move mrs gartroll up to the tower so its closest, not the manger. one of which i hand right in front of his chariots. try to foot the wizzie archer bunker but only kill a few archers.


dont know what happened to the horse archers of his, might had dd'd them? dunno. but he moves chariots up, and i foot half of them. manages to nab a mangler. knights come up and make a beeline for lobba. you can see below the remaining mangler has a sweet line through the chariots, titan, and shabs


doof! mangler time. wipes out the chariot, does 4/5 titan wounds and 5 wounds on shabs.
3 chariots hit the sphinxter and pop it with the loss of one. tower keeps moving towards him and zapping archers.


shabs charge chariots, and i kill one with a stand and shoot lol. kitty charge a troll but fluffs and i hold. snakes take out lobba, and he takes out other mangler. lobba takes last wound off titan before it dies.


trukk and chariot hit kitty, put it in a sack, and throw it off the bridge. shab kills chariot, overruns, but other one doesnt flee. good thing too, cos it then goes on to charge bunker, and assassinate l4 over a couple rounds! cheeky bugger


i do some looming, he does some crumbling. sorcs fail charge on snakes


who charge them anyway and get wiped out. i reform to loom some more


game ends after this photo, last shab crumbles, chariot nabs a solo l3, and its 17-3 to me. robert had some terrible, terrible dice, and that mangler hit pretty much sealed me the game.

so will find out which pool im in for the final two rounds of the campaign, think i might have just missed the top pool, but no worries there, happy to swim with the seals on this one lol

Campaign round 4: 2200pt ong's

so yeah, no w/h last night, but campaign this weekend again. that crept up quick ay! sheit
2200 pts, last round before they put people in two pools for the final round.

no surprises there, although the warboss is still a blorc. hes gonna somehow lose his badlands tan before the final round lolol

Listy list lists: VC

the armies never stop, do they?
ive had my beady eyes on a vc army for a while, and am still on the fence about where to go next - bar an empire list. got a mad lean on towards vc. love the new models, think it can be competitive, its really only the price of this list i dont like. i had some conversion ideas though, that should halve the price nearly, but what do ya'll think of this:

vlord, asf, -1ld, reroll fear tests, armour of 4++, ahw
l4, scroll

vamp. l2, forbidden lore: beasts, ha & ahw
wight king, ii, ahw
2x banshee

30 ghouls, ghast
3x30 zombies, muso & standard

35 gg, fc, botb
6 horrors

2x2 fell bats

so it runs a la 7th ed books, plus crypt horrors lol. but the gist is bunker the l4 and l2 ina zombie unit at the back, flanked by zombie units, with the three combat units up front. vlord and wk go in gg, banshees where i need them to either deal with chaff, or be chaff. bats fit in the gaps, and thats my raps lololol

but yeah, nice and clustered together means i only need to cast small invocs - theoretically - and gg are built to still hit on 2's with the banner, and lord combo. the lord is built to hit fairly hard, but not be too over the top pts wise, which is tempting with vc.
in fact, one of the lists ive been crunching - for a laugh - had a 600pt vlord character: red fury, asf, charmed shield, 4++, +1 attack sword, coven throne. exactly 600 pts, with a potential maximum 34 wounds generated lololololololol

 but the main lynchpin here is beasts. just imagine one of those three combat blocks with wildform. fuck yes. in fact, most of those beast spells are excellent force multipliers, esp when all my characters will be within 12. savage beast/panns pelt on vlord? yes please! curse your horde/knightbus. amber spear for lolz, and just imagine a mountain chimera getting in the mix. its slippery undies time.
not a huge fan of massive pt sink deathstars, but hey, when in rome right?

so, any thoughts? apart from 'use a netlist', 'black knights are great', or 'take your shirt off'

The empire strikes femur

whaaaaat up gang. hey 1209 views so far too! awesome!
so apparently, you cant post magnetic strips from nz to oz. stink. how did i order my gf9 mag bases back home then? fuckin' eggs.
anyway, heres the game vs gregs tks - with a brand spanking new paint job. we rolled a battleline. hes changed his list slightly, more horse archers, no death mask (phew), added a casket (eek), more archers, and different lord build - glittering scales + fencers blades i think. in fact, ill even go through deployment for once!

so on gregs side, l2r, 10 horse archers in my dz, 10 archers, 20 archers with l4, kitty, 7 chariots with +1m banner & lord, nother kitty, 3 chariots, casket in the forest, more horse archers, and 3 stalkers beneath the dirt.
my deployment l2r was icks with lord and wp, cannons, handgunners with l1, archer det, halberds with wp, bsb and l4, h/b and engineer, g/s with wp, and 5 archer det. like so:


greg sets up and goes first. this photo is after my t1. he manages 2/3 of one cannon crew with shooting, desert winds his chariots up a bit. i stop light of death.
my turn the archers nab a couple horse archers, one cannon nicks a couple wounds off one kitty, with h/b rolling a 28 and finishing it off. handgunners halve the small chariot unit, and the other cannon takes one wound off other kitty


greg sees that ive left my h/g flank open for some chariots, and we see the aftermath of that in the below photo. he also nabs the wounded cannon, but chariots fortunately dont overrun far enough to hit hals. phew
one unit of horses nabs h/b, the others dickmove the knight bus


knights kills horses and reform, g/s kill the other and do the same. archers turn to dickmove his chariots, and my remaining cannon misfires


kitty goes into the knights, archers pop a chariot from the small unit in a stand and shoot, but are wiped out when both sets of chariots charge em. fortunately he chooses to overrun with small chariot, blocking the lords unit off. phew. g/s heft their g/s and limber up for a counter charge. kitty kills a couple knights, i might do a wound or two, greg kbs out my wp


g/s hit solo chariot and overrun into front of big unit. remaining archers take off to try assassinate casket - which i manage to shut down all game thankfully. knights finish off kitty in a flurry of 6's, but gregs stalkers appear and nail the unit next turn. g/s combat he challenges out my gs champ, which goes on for a couple turns, but he survives and kills the chariot champ. the wp isnt so lucky tho, getting kb'd by his lord. one wound, rolls a 6. boo. despite the challenge and the lord chariot, g/s kill a bunch and win, res one more off i think. gregs stalkers also make an appearance, amidst much booing


bit of a missing photo here, but stalkers ping a few knights, but the rest get into the rear of the chariots. that and the g/s are enough to fully res em out, although a few knights get kb'd, and the g/s reform. his stalkers then roll 2 misfires - been waiting for that - and did 4 wounds on themselves, allowing me to banishment the rest off the table.


archers kill the last few knights, while general solos into heirophant unit, and tickles them. good thing im stubborn! greg cant quite get a kb off on him, and i cant make way to the heirophant, so it ends there, with a narrow win to the empire!


so after that, i immediately rewrote my own empire list, as this stuff of gregs is potentially up for sale, and im getting keener.. lol

2398. figured fear sword would help by making icks immune to it. mounted priest gets a charmed shield, one with g/s gets opal amulet, to try protect them from kb, essentially. bsb is vunerable to it, but can just go in bus and pop him in 2nd rank if need be. 5 drops too lolol.
so will prolly take this list next time im at gregs, see how it goes. sposed to be playing on thurs at mine, and final qualifying round for campaign is this sat too, so more batreps to come.

one other thing ive noticed is that i do a looooot of running on tuesdays, which is not something one usually associates with warhammer. have to sprint from work to the furtherest station at flinders in ten mins, then march back to the station post w/h, and sprinting to get the connecting train back to brunswick at flinders. its ridiculous! i never signed up for warhammer to have to run about!! lol, the lengths we go for our hobbies eh

so everything has hatred, loadsa shooting, and 5 channels. better than nz tv
so yeah, will give it a crack, see how i like 'good guy armies'. no idea what greg will play

also, heres a shitty pic of the latest lizo. you can see the slann palanquin wip next to the spraypaint. lizos are nice and brown though

Whats on the warhammer list this week

heaps! thats what.
sorry about the radio silence, been busy with distinctly un-nerdy things

firstly well done to greg, coming 7th at axemaster this weekend. apparently had a bit of a cnut of a last game to a cheaty opponent who walked out in a huff - but great job greg! we canned the game on thurs due to greg realising how much painting pts were worth for axemaster lol.

secondly! did heaps more painting on the lizos this weekend, nearly run out of scorched brown, that might be an issue. hoping to do some more brown this week, but more excitedly, planning on starting sculpting the slann.
So look out for a batrep on wed starring the slowly painted lizos, or possibly some old empire of gregs. hes got a bunch of stuff that is hilariously close to what i would take in an empire list, so might end up proxying that instead - and not have to lug a case out lol

turdly, ive been seeing a few 1200pt lists gracing my inbox for an upcoming tourney, my advice to you jvdvl is drop the other unit of demis and take a pair of cannons, or one and a h/b. heed my words, i came 2nd with your empire last year lol - not at all cos i bought a hellblaster to a pillow fight lololol
and watch out for sammy the conqueror, who took a de list last year that i had written, and deemed too nasty, but without any practice games, and 20 mins spent discussing tactics beforehand, ended up winning the whole thing. many lols to be had

and finally, got some ideas for vc i might post up, two quite different lists and approaches. my poor old wallet

Lizardy bits


good morning chaps
today im going to show you my lizardy bits, as i slog through the painting of em.
first, how i assembled them. i simply used the instructions:


lololol. heres what i unsuccessfully tried to sell before i left, and ended up keeping em. ended up with the army in the first place as a two way favour from sammy the conqueror. he didnt want them, but wanted cds. we both win. looks like a bunch of work tho ay, even though he was decent enough to base and undercoat most of it before he decided to sell em


true to form, i was loathe to spend money on metal salamanders. so i cut up some spare cold ones, bit of plastic card, and a very rushed gs job later, here they are. bear in mind i thought i was selling these, so i didnt take my time lol


ditto for the krox. i had heaps of old metal stone trolls, just did a head swap with the cold ones unit champ heads, added cold one tails, and a crest down the spine from the new troll sprue, and voila, passable krox


and undercoated. was into skrox initally


so next up to do will be the slann. again, too cheap to buy one, plus dave told me it was ridiculous to sculpt one. challenge accepted! im thinking something like this:


just kidding. will put photos up of the progress though. ive put together the palanquin already, just need to start sculpting the slann itself.
on a dinoriders note, was this not actually the coolest toy ever when you were a kid? i remember my parents got me one for xmas one year - after much nagging i imagine - and wrapped it up, and put it in the car for the annual trip to the beach house. i remember asking mum what was in the suspiciously t-rex sized box, and was told to my dismay 'paint for uncle fred'. 13 hours of sulking car trip later, i basically shit myself to discover it was actually a t-rex. thanks mum
